By the late 1950's this seawater bathing pool was semi-derelict. There were simply not enough London holidaymakers coming to the town any longer, and coming so far east to the beaches of Thorpe Bay, to make it worthwhile for the Corporation to keep the pool open. |

This road will be extended Northwards, named Lifstan Way, and by 1939 will run all the way up past the Railway [location shown by the horizontal line of houses at the top of the image] to join with Southchurch Road. |

This is where my parent's House would be built in 1933 - "Memel", 11 Marlborough Road. - where I grew up. And by 1939 this garden suburb development had gone all the way to the RHS of the image, in line with the Eastern edge of the Southchurch Park, a new road which would be named Lifstan Way. |

I grew up in this area, my parents lived in Marlborough Road, and I spent many happy hours playing in Southchurch Park; - and that's why I've added so many pins, "before all memories fade" for the guidance and interest of future researchers. Bargee1937 |
