Ex Midland Railway branch line linking Bedford to Hitchin on the ex Great Northern Railway. It was there that the Midland trains shared the tracks down to Kings Cross. An increase in traffic by both companies caused the Midland to build their own connection to London, terminating at their St. Pancras station.
