Poole's Coliseum Cinema in Albion Street. Originally called Gillsmith's Hippodrome, its name was later changed to the Coliseum. Closed in 1974. it became the Springbok Bar and was eventually demolished in 2011 to make way for a "high specification, five-storey building with commercial space to the ground floor and 14 luxury apartments above including a penthouse, together with residential parking." None of which have been occupied or sold to date.

The Royal Hotel. The country buses... Pulhams; Bowles, etc. used to depart from the large yard at the rear. The exit for the departing buses was out onto Albion Street. Also in the yard was the Original Steels Garage, and... a poodle-clipping salon! The hotel and site was redeveloped in the late sixties and became Woolworth's and later, The Beechwood Arcade.
