I have a water colour of Froghall colour Mill, painted in 1913 by it looks like A D Hammersley. It is entitled Mr Birches Mill. Does anyone know any information about Mr Birch or the Mill etc?

This may have been a bridge of the Uttoxeter Canal, that locked down here from the Caldon Canal. Most of its route was later converted to a railway.

The railway formerly continued to lime kilns. The lime was brought from Cauldon Low quarries on a 3ft 6in gauge railway, the fourth quarry line between these points. Is this a record?

This apparently minor road is in fact the A52
