The River Mimram or Maran. The river's valley was the reason the Digswell railway viaduct was built. The river is a tributary of the River Lea, rising in the chalky uplands near Whitwell, flowing through Welwyn village and joining the Lea at Hertford. |

Welwyn North Station. I did a lot of train spotting here in the summer of 1969 - plenty of Deltics, Class 47s, 31s, 37s and the old diesel multiple units travelling to and from Cambridge. |
