Ponton Road Remand Centre. Previously Ponton Road School which was opened by the London School Board in 1885. The top floors became a Day Industrial School in 1902 when it was taken over from the School Board for London in 1904. The Infants’ School remained on the ground floor. In 1912 it was adapted as a remand home to replace Camberwell Green Remand Home. It was used for girls and young boys until December 1929 after which only boys were sent there. It was finally closed in 1936.
