| This photo was taken at the peak of the floods on Wednesday 19th March 1947 when the river was 6' 9" above normal. This pin locates the landing area in Alma Road served by amphibious vehicles, the 'ducks' (DUKWs), which Windsor had secured for residents' use in getting about through the floods.

| This is the Kipling Memorial Building which dates from 1939 and which was built for Imperial Service College. Sadly the war forced the college to leave Windsor and rejoin USC at Hertford. This 1947 flood view clearly shows three air-raid shelters in the school grounds, two aligned on the north side, and one to the west.
