Isle of Grain, this fortification was named Dummy Battery. Proposed 1860, in 1869 problems were encountered during the build with subsidence and cracking. Originally intended to mount twelve 64 lbs smooth bore guns, this was changed to two 11" rifled muzzle loaders which were replaced by two 4.7" QF guns by 1899. Not recorded as used in WW1 or WW2.
