Skeldergate Bridge
Was subject to tolls when first opened. The Toll Booth is still present.
A short length of the bridge at the northern end opened to allow the passage of ships until the 1950s. The hinged structure can be seen from the adjacent tow path/riverside walk. The lifting mechanism was housed below the Toll Booth. The decaying remains of triangular timber structures built to guide ships through the opening are still present on each side of the bridge.
