Pins
These rows of terraced house are known locally as "The Avenues" they were constructed around the end of WW1. From this pin and scanning to the right they are named alphabetically in the following order :- Ashville Avenue, Beechville Avenue, Elmville Avenue, Mayville Avenue, Oakville Avenue and Roseville Avenue .
Local folklore tells that they are listed using the initial letter from the name of the original architect/builder ABE MOR !
Make your own mind up as the names also obviously have Tree names ..? |

The Floral Hall entertainment venue in the design of an ornate Conservatory, originally without a roof it was rebuilt/remodeled with a capacity for 1500 people in 1911 and a roof added. The venue closed in 1987 as the cost of maintaining and updating was deemed too high and the venue was demolished in 1989 and replaced with Alexandra indoor Bowls Centre. |
