This Chemical Works was built in 1938 to produce Tetraethyl Lead the anti-knock compound added to petrol. Since the use of unleaded fuels this site became obsolete and was demolished in mid 1980's See attached link:- http://www.amlwchhistory.co.uk/octel.html |
