| Gorringes Department Store. Destroyed by fire in the 1950s, it was rebuilt but finally closed in the late 1960s. Reconfigured as the Westminster Hotel in the early 1970s, but now demolished. The site is part of the whole area being redeveloped in conjunction with the enlargment of Victoria

 Just left of centre in this picture, behind the "Victoria Palace Theatre" is the Brewery that was run by Watney Combe Reid until 1959, this was the original "Stag Brewery". Watney pubs signage often referred to Watney's "Pimlico Ales". |
