Approximate location of Moss Bay Cart Siding, which was used to transfer small goods from trains to road vehicles and vice versa. During WW1, when work at Lowca continued seven days a week and sometimes overnight the Lowca Light Railway ran workmen's trains from here to Lowca and back.

Bridge carrying the Moss Bay Branch of the one-time Cleator and Workington Junction Railway (CWJR). This mineral line survived until 1973. Trains from Moss Bay steelworks set off south towards Harrington on tracks on the seaward side of the still-existing Cumbrian coastal line. Then they reversed back northwards swinging inland climbing over a bridge out of sight on this image to cross the coastal route and continue curving round to eventually face south once again, meeting the CWJR at Harrington Junction. Shortly after Harrington Junction they diverged seawards to join the Lowca Light Railway, heading for Lowca, on the clifftops north of Parton. The purpose of this convolution was to gain height, from sea level to cliff top.
