South Park, owned privately by the Morrell brewery family until 1939 when the Oxford Preservation Trust bought it. In 1951 the Trust gave it to the city of Oxford. |

The Plain received it's name after St Clement's Church, dating from 1122, was demolished in about 1828 which left an open space. It was rebuilt in Marston Road. It's churchyard disappeared when the Plain roundabout was constructed in 1950. |

Victoria Fountain, with small clock tower, built 1899 and donated belatedly by G H Morrell for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 It provided drinking water for people and water troughs for horses. It was built on the site of the former St Clement's Toll House. |

I think this was known as Cowley St John School before the comprehensive system was brought in in 1972. It was a segregated school with girls being taught on the other side of the road, where Moberley Close is today. It was then transfered to Cricket Road and named Cowley St John Comprehensive. The Boys School is now East Oxford Community Centre. The girls school was demolished. |
