The original grandstand on the Garrison Ground, replaced by another in 1931 (https://www.royalmarinesfootball.com/1930s-gallery) which was later also demolished. |

Chatham, one of three manning ports in Great Britain - has a memorial in the shape of an obelisk, designed to serve as a leading mark for shipping. The memorial was designed by Sir Robert Lorimer, with sculpture by Henry Poole. The Chatham Naval Memorial was unveiled by the Prince of Wales on 26 April 1924. It commemorates those members of the Royal Navy who had no known grave, the majority of deaths having occurred at sea where no permanent memorial could be provided. |

This appears to be a large tented camp on the Great Lines no doubt similar to the ones used during W W I to cope with the suden expansion in the size of the Royal Engineers being trained at Chatham. |
