This metal structure is all that was left by 1927 of the Malaya pavilion at the 1924/25 British Empire Exhibition. The two taller metal towers had supported the minarets which were a feature of the pavilion, and can be seen in this 1924 colour postcard, from the Wembley History Society Collection at Brent Archives. |

The partly-demolished New Zealand pavilion from the 1924/25 British Empire Exhibition. The Empire Pool (now Wembley/SSE Arena) was built on this site, and on part of the lake in front of it, in 1934 and opened in time for the British Empire Games that year. The photograph attached, from the Wembley History Society Collection at Brent Archives, shows a front view of the New Zealand pavilion during the Exhibition. |
