I lived in Connaught Street as a child above a laundry in 1944 to 1952 aprox, my aunt did a stint as a bar maid at the Kendal pub on the corner of Kendal and Connaught Street, if I remember rightly, she said they had a cat there and was never sure where it did its toilet until someone went into the basement and found a neat row of deposits all in a line!

One evening a bomb landed nearby and all the soot came down the chimney where my mother and I were sitting, we looked like a couple of B&W minstrels!
