| A collection of motor car vans (CCT covered carriage trucks) ready to deliver new cars by rail. The special feature of such vans were the end doors that allowed cars to be driven in from an end loading dock. Today the same principle is used but with sets of articulated vehicles, the cars being driven right through the train. |

You are quite correct. A tram service ran along the Bristol Road from the city centre. |

Just to set the record straight for anyone who isn't familiar with the area, these are indeed wooden houses, and comprise what is known as the 'Austin Village'. They were purchased by Herbert Austin to house his expanding workforce, and were bought as flat-pack kits from Canada. The houses are still there, in good condition, and it's a pleasant, if compact area in which to live. You can see them by using Google Earth's Streetview feature. |
