The field next to the station was known as Tunbull's field. During the Second World War the American Forces were encamped in the field. The building on the corner of the field was Turnbull's Office. Colonel Turnbull was an auctioneer and had served in the First World War. Turning right at the office takes us onto Osborne Road. On your left is the Wesleyan Chapel, the Osborne Working Men's Club, then the Empire Ballroom. |
