Note - Wood distillation produces such products as tar and turpentine. |

The site of the wood distillation works is now part of the Forest. You would not know it had been there. The railway line curving round to the works is a siding off one of the main mineral lines in the Forest, running left/right just out of sight at the bottom of the image, and this is now one of the beautiful bike and walking trails maintained by the Forestry Commission. You wouldn't get planning permission for a Works like that now! |
