Rochester corn exchange

The original railway bridge opened by the East Kent Railway in 1858. In 1859 the EKR became the London, Chatham & Dover Railway. There was intense competition with the South Eastern Railway which built its own bridge beside it, this opened in 1891. The two companies formed the South East and Chatham Railway, a joint management in 1899. In 1927, all rail traffic was moved to the newer bridge. From 1927 this old bridge was redundant until it was rebuilt as the east bound road bridge opened in 1970.

Disused track bed for the old South Eastern Railway. In 1927, under the Southern Railway, all rail traffic was moved to the 1891 bridge built by the SER. However, the mainline continued to be that constructed by the old London Chatham & Dover Railway.

The South Eastern Railways bridge, opened in 1891. This bridge is still the rail crossing for the North Kent line today.

The rebuilt road bridge, opened on 14th May 1914. Included tram tracks until 1930. Since 1970, this bridge has been one-way for west bound traffic only.
