Knightswood Hospital (Contagious Diseases) as shown on OS map from 1937 http://maps.nls.uk/os/6inch-2nd-and-later/view/?sid=75498582, now the site of Branklyn Crescent.

I totally agree - nice complete match with the old map!

Location of new Branklyn Crescent, G13 is also correct.

The map is a good resource for other photos.

Not a prison, there's no gate security. Barracks? Maybe, but my money's on a hospital. Many of the buildings have open sides, fresh air was considered a good treatment for tuberculosis, the biggest killer disease before penicillin.

I was think along those lines as well - I even checked out the layout of Heatherwood hospital in Ascot just in case (the only TB hospital I am familiar with).

My guess would be hospital.

Possibly isolation hospital for contagious diseases.?

It seems very new; uncuttered and new builing work in progress.

Prison or Barracks? No Parade ground visible.
