At the time the photograph was taken (1929) the cinema mentioned was called The Haymarket. It was renamed The Scotia in or around the late 40s or early 50s. 'Bonnie Prince Charlie' staring David Niven was screened at the renaming.

Haymarket Mills, Haymarket Terrace, had their own rail sidings by 1914. The mills were run by John Herdman & Sons Ltd and may later have become part of the Rank Hovis McDougall combine: Herdman & Sons are listed in the records of RHM at the Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading
