Tank engine - possibly a 0-6-2 type - hauling a passenger train. The first vehicle appears to be a full brake - possibly a 6-wheeler: its too short for a bogie coach |

The original Head Post Office building on Westgate Street, Cardiff was constructed to the design of Sir Henry Tanner at the turn of the twentieth century. The building remained as Cardiff's Head Post Office until 1983, following which it remained empty into the 1990's. |

I think you may have tagged the wrong building, this building is of Red Brick, the one tagged was listed on the old Cardiff map dated 1899 being the Cardiff & County cricket club. Tanners building was of Portland stone, white, which is on the next block down, on the corner of Park st & Westgate st. Site Description, Cardiff Head Post Office is a substantial four storey, public building occupying a corner site, with what is believed to be the first large-scale use of Portland stone in Cardiff. The building was designed by Sir Henry Tanner, constructed 1894-1897 and extended along Park Street in 1907. This building looks like it will be converted into a 4 star hotel, WRU, Celtic Manor adventure. |

Did it really survive into the 60s ? Temperance Town is partly cleared in this view, where did the congregation come from once the houses had gone ? |

Cardiff Arms Park was donated by the Marquis of Bute to the City of Cardiff "for recreational use" in perpetuity. The Arms Park was used by Cardiff Cricket Club from 1848 and subsequently by Glamorgan County Cricket Club until the 1960s. The southern part of the park became the home of Cardiff RFC from 1876. In the 1960s, as cricketers relocated to pitches up-river in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff's rugby club took over the former cricket ground while the existing rugby stadium shown in this image was redeveloped for international use as the National Ground Cardiff Arms Park. Between the Welsh 3-0 victory over England on 22 January 1955 and England's 13-34 victory on 15 March 1997, all Wales's 5 Nations home fixtures were played at the Arms Park / National Ground.
