This is definitely Llwyncelyn signal box! Well spotted, photos of this cabin are very rare. Hafod Junction Lodge signal box had closed by 1880, only opening four years earlier. This was the third generation of box called Llwyncelyn and it was built in 1907 with 53 levers. It closed on 30th December 1951. |

Lewis Merthyr Colliery was closed in 1983 under a Thatcher government. Today there are no deep coal mines in Wales. I have found the Welsh Coal mines wesite a useful source of information. http://www.welshcoalmines.co.uk/ |
