These are Palmeria Cafes today - just seen in the photo to the left.

The bottom left-hand of this photo at the curve of the road, is where the Cliffs Pavilion now stands. Behind this sweep of the road is a row of houses - this is San Remo Parade, with a house with a turret at the end on the row near the seafront. This building is still there, as are all houses in that street. Behind this is a field, which is now Shorefield Gardens. Shorefield Gardens rise up from the slope of the road on the seafront, where Palmeria seafront cafes are now situated. You can clearly see the path which leads across the slope in the photograph (bottom left). This path is still in use today. You can see Westcliff station and Station road further in the distance to the centre of the picture.
