| This was called 'The Bauxite' & in the records it was ran by the British Aluminium Co. They produced Aluminium Hydroxide from an ore called bauxite. This process left a lot of red waste called 'mud'. This 'mud' was dumped into large mounds around the complex & was so messy. Today it wouldn't be allowed. |

| The Tharsis Sulpher & Copper Works disused & unfenced dangerous deep reservoir that had been used in their processes. People drowned in this reservoir. The land from the railway lines to the riverside was all land used by the company who'd been in Hebburn since the mid 1800s. |
