South Drive which is still there today. It used to be to access the Bushings Co which is no longer there. It still has the houses on one side of the drive and access to the riverside. |

Tharsis Sulpher & Copper Works who came to Hebburn in the 1860s. Not sure when they finally closed but they were gone by the late 40s as us kids played in the partially demolished buildings that were still there then. The photo of the 190ft tall chimney is from my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website.. |

This was a deep Reservoir & part of the Tharsis Sulpher & Copper Works processing plant. When Tharsis moved out the buildings were all demolished & the reservoir left unfenced. Kids like myself played in this area 1949 to 1953 & the buildings were nearly all gone. Sometimes we fished for sticklebacks in the reservoir. We knew it was deep & dangerous as it had steep brick lined sloping sides & about 30ft deep. A boy called Colqhoun & about my age drowned in it about 1950ish. At the time I was about 6 yrs old.No Health & Saftety those days. |

Heathfield House. Unfortunately there are no photos of any of these three houses. What a shame they weren't kept as part of Hebburn's history. |

Reyrolle's Sportsfield. This photo is from my www.oldtynmeside.co.uk website. In the background & across Victoria Rd West is the Cemetery. I have many more Reyrolle images on the site. The field is still in use today but no longer Reyrolle's. |
