This bridge carrier the electricity cables to the sub station on the south side of the River Nene - the river was tidal until that late 1930's when they built the 'Dog in Doublet' sluice |

London Road level crossing. Caused chaos on the main road for many years until replacement by bridge in early 1930s. The footbridge over the railway on the eastern side of the road is just visible. |

The LNWR line to Castor, Wansford, Nassington and Oundle, it was earmarked for closure by Dr Beeching, but a contract with the Oundle Public School kept it open until about 1971/2. The Development Corporation (DC) moved in to expand Peterborough and created the Nene Park - The LNWR line went straight through the park and the fledgling Peterborough Railway Society with Rev Richard Paten's 73050 Standard Class 5 Locomotive started running trains on the Nene Valley Railway in 1977 |

These electricity substation sidings were for the offloading of transformers and heavy equipment that could not be moved by road - Because the roads were not very good in those days.
In the 1990's there was still a small length of railway track with sleepers here - But it was not connected to the network. |
