I was born in 1945 within site of the tower, which my father told me was called Tait's Tower in memory of the designer. He also told me that, in the war it had to be dismantled due to it being used as a sighting by German bombers on the Govan shipyards. What an attraction it would be if, in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games it could be rebuilt as a tourist site. The view down the Clyde would be fantastic. |
