The Corn Exchange, Rochester. Completed in 1706, Sir Cloudesley Shovell, Admiral of the Fleet and MP for Rochester, contributed much of the cost. The round clock was a replacement in 1771 of the original square faced clock. During the course of its history, the building has been a butchers' market, a court room, the corn market, a concert hall, a cinema and is now public function rooms managed by Medway Council. |
