These two 'bungalows' still exist in lower road. They clearly pre-date other bungalows now in the road.
I believe that they may be adapted army huts left over from the army camp that existed in this part of Higher Denham during WW1 but had mostly been redeveloped by the time of this photograph.
The larger huts nearby (now gone) might be old cookhouse huts or institute huts used by soldiers based in the camp. |

Much new and recent house-building can be seen at this (western) end of Middle Road. Most of the houses towards the eastern end were constructed pre-WW2 |
