Hardly surprising given the 37 feet tidal range, even six miles inland. |

The 1864 Clifton Suspension Bridge is one of the finest of its type in the country and was completed five years after the death of the designer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-59). I crossed this structure many times on foot in 1965/66 during my final year as a student (post-graduate Cert.Ed.) at the University of Bristol, when I was a junior sub-warden at Burwalls Hall, Leigh Woods. Happy days, to be sure! |
