Inside the south entrance to the church is the headstone of Patience Johnson. As can be seen from the attached image, she had 12 sons & 12 daughters, but died in childbirth of her 25th child in 1717, aged 38. Her husband Shadrack had another 8 children with his second wife (the first was illegitimate). |

In the pavement on this corner of Silver Street is a slab showing where John Bunyan was imprisoned in Bedford County Gaol from 1660 to 1672. The attached photo was taken on the 10th December 2013. |

In this central section of the front of the Corn Exchange is a bust & plaque in celebration of Glenn Miller and the war time concerts he played there while he was staying nearby in a house in Ashburnham Road. He also went to Milton Ernest Hall, in Milton Ernest, where the American officers were based. The attached photo was taken on the 20th December 2013.
