This is correctly the "Metropolitan District Railway", (there's no "and" in it's title).

The Metropolitan Railway was a seperate concern to the Metropolitan District Railway (usually abbreviated just to District Railway). Metropolitan Railway trains never ran over these tracks to Hounslow.
