Allens of Harrogate was founded as a tailors and outfitters in 1880 and was run by the same family for five generations. It was part of my childhood - a Harrogate institution with grand mahogany fittings, a sweeping staircase and courteous 'old-fashioned' service.

Cenotaph or War Memorial, unveiled by the 6th earl of Harewood in 1923 as a memorial to the dead in World War I and then re-dedicated after World War II.
