Originally built in 1878 as The Cocoa Tree coffee tavern, a refreshment and social meeting house run according to principles of temperance, it was probably serving as the local Conservative club at the time of the photograph (and probably a deal less temperately). |

I think that this is the rear view of the original Victory public house. The building in the High Street that later became the Victory, although a much older building, has a much more recent history as a pub. |

I believe that this was a small motor garage. There appears to be a fuel pump in the forecourt. This building was probably swept away when the Met line was quadrupled in about 1960.
