This is Quartermile Lane leading off Ruckholt Road and shows the Eton Manor Playing Fields to the right with associated pavilion and groundsman's house. The highway marks the borough boundary between hackney (left) and Leyton, now Waltham Forest (right). Eton Manor Sports ground(Eastway) was bulldozed for the 2012 olympics, and sports fields, cricket pitch etc never replaced.

Here is a bailey bridge over the Lea navigation marking the entrance from Waterden Road(between factories) up, and onto the raised site known as the Manor Gardens Allotments Society. They were summarily evicted in 2006 after existing on this site for 102 years - all for the 4-week 'jolly' 2012 olympics. Not discernable from this view but the ground was approximately 60 feet above ground level(ie the bridge). The allotments were like an enclosed village, and even 60 years after the war, there were 2 remaining pill boxes visible within the site.
