Bay platform at Manchester Oxford Road, built on the roof of a building. There is currently one line here which serves Northern Rail trains to Liverpool Lime St. For many years there was an "adult" cinema club below, more recently it has been Screen 1 for Manchester Corner House arts cinema. Corner House is due to move to a new location in the near future. |

Midland Railway / LMR Manchester Central Station. Grade 2*.
Built c.1880. Closed to passengers 1969.
Opened in 1986 as G-mex, the Greater Manchester Exhibition and Conference Centre, it is now called once more Manchester Central, used for exhibitions and conferences.
The "temporary" ticket office was never replaced when the station was open, but a significant part of the forecourt has now been used for a very large glass covered reception area. |
